ROP SCREENING

In 2006 a multi-disciplinary national Newborn Steering committee (NSC) was established as an advisory body to the Ministry of health (MoH) Maternal and Child health department. This helps in drafting the new born clinical care guidelines for MoH.
Preterm babies born at Luwero General Hospital. Those are babies born before Gestational Age of 37 weeks. These are some of the direct beneficiaries and are being helped to prevent them from blindness.
This is mainly conducted by Dr Iddi Ndyabawe who does the ROP screening using an indirect ophthalmoscope and a fundus camera.
